PAWS AROUND THE TOWN, LLC

Policies and General Release form

Paws Around the Town’s philosophy is to offer a safe and happy grooming experience for your pet. Safety and comfort are our first priority.  We will not perform any grooming procedure that causes pain or a level of stress that we think is excessive. This can include nail trimming in some situations.

Vaccinations:  Proof of rabies vaccinations is required.  It is highly recommended that your pet be current on all other vaccinations for your pets overall health and well-being.

Medical issues and Senior pets:
We use extra care and caution for senior pets and pets with medical issues.  Please advise us of any and all medical issue beforehand. Senior pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, as we will not compromise your pet’s health and comfort to achieve “a perfect groom”.  By signing below, you are giving permission to groom your senior pet. Sometimes pets with medical issues and senior pets can become overly stressed. If we feel that your pet is under too much stress, we will stop the grooming session immediately, and the charges will be adjusted accordingly.

If you have concerns about your pet’s groom, please notify us within 24 hours of the appointment.

You, the pet guardian, will advise Paws Around the Town, LLC of any medical, physical, behavioral issues, allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing conditions.  These conditions may include, but are not limited to prior surgeries, hip or joint issues, warts, moles, ear infections, or skin problems.

In the best interest of your pet, you, the pet guardian authorize Paws Around the Town, LLC to obtain veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary.  Should you not be home, every effort will be made to contact you and take your pet to their regular veterinarian.  Should that veterinarian be unavailable or deemed too far away, Paws Around the Town is authorized to use a veterinarian of its choice.  All veterinarian costs and expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the pet guardian.

Aggression: If your dog has behavior problems, please let us know. Pets that are aggressive will NOT be groomed.  If you are aware that your pet may have a temperament issue and fail to notify us, you can and will be liable for all medical fees, out of work compensation, as well as any property damage. Paws Around the Town, LLC reserves the right to muzzle your pet. If we arrive at your home and your pet cannot be groomed due to aggression, a $50.00 minimum groom fee will apply. All bites will be reported to the local authorities as required by law. Paws Around the Town, LLC reserves the right to refuse service.

Accidents:We would use caution and extreme care and would never intentionally harm your pet, but an accident occasionally happens.  Grooming equipment is sharp, and pets are unpredictable and can be distracted and move. There is a possibility of minor injury, such as  a superficial cut, nick, scratch, or the nails quicked, etc. Paws Around the Town, LLC  will not be held liable for the injury.  If an injury occurs, we will advise you, the pet guardian.  If you notice any injury after the groom, Paws Around the Town, LLC must be notified within 24 hours of the groom.

Matted pets:  Pets with matted coats require additional care and time.  Minor matting may be brushed out at an additional charge of $60/hour.  This is at the discretion of Paws Around the Town, LLC.  If your pet cannot be humanely dematted, they will be clipped as short as needed to make them comfortable.  A matted coat can cause numerous health conditions including itching, irritation, and skin infections. Removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles and skin folds trapped and hidden in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing fungal or bacterial infections and can cause skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. Paws Around the Town, LLC is not responsible for any pre-existing conditions due to a matted coat.

Flea and Tick:It is recommended that your pet be maintained on flea and tick control year round.  Should your pet require a flea bath, an additional $25 charge will apply.  Heavily infested pets will not be groomed and returned to their home for the pet guardian to obtain the necessary veterinary treatment.  A $50 trip fee will apply.

Skunk: The compounds/oils that are secreted in a skunk's spray can cause several symptoms, such as swelling and redness of the eyes, sneezing, skin irritation, vomiting and overall discomfort.  Since the mobile van is a small enclosed space, we can not service freshly skunked pets.  This is to ensure a safe, clean and pleasant environment for all clients and staff.

Anal Glands and Ear Hair:  Due to liability reasons, Paws Around the Town does not offer anal gland expression. This is a medical procedure and is best left in your veterinarian’s care. Ear hair plucking will only be performed at the pet guardian’s request and any subsequent issues resulting from ear plucking service will be the pet guardian’s responsibility.  A wellness check will be done prior to ear plucking.  It is at the sole discretion of Paws Around the Town as to whether it is possible to pluck ear hair at this time.  Any concerns will be brought to the pet guardian’s attention and you will be advised to consult your veterinarian. Paws Around the Town will not be held responsible for any underlying issues uncovered during or after receipt of service.

Poodle Faces and Feet:  Traditionally, poodle faces and feet are shaved.  This can be highly irritating to the skin. This will only be done at the pet guardian’s request at an additional charge to compensate for the additional time required. Paws Around the Town will not be held responsible for any underlying issues uncovered during or after receipt of service.

Price variances:  Price varies for each pet and can potentially vary each appointment.  Pricing is determined by breed, size, coat condition, and type of service for your pet.  Additional charges can apply including but not limited to, de-matting, de-shedding, additional requested services, temperament and behavior during the groom, all resulting in additional time.

Appointments:  Paws Around the Town, will give you an arrival window of time for your appointment.  However, situations can arise that disrupt the schedule, such as traffic, road conditions, previous appointment needing additional time, mechanical failure etc.  You will be notified as soon as possible and advised to the current schedule.

Weather and Snow days:   For  the safety of your pet, please have your driveway and walk cleared during winter. Due to the possibility of hazardous road condition in heavy snow and safety concerns in heavy wind, Paws Around the Town will suspend service on those days.  You will be notified and rescheduled.
